I am an unashamed fanboy and this is my blog. If I think its cool, it goes in the blog. I hope to reach a few similarly mutated individuals.

Real Yeti Discovered
Czech car maker Skoda has introduced a new compact SUV called the Yeti. It look pretty cool. It is reported that as part of their publicity campaign Skoda will sponsor an expedition to try and track down the furrier version of the Yeti as well.
Arrrrrr, I Be Sick Now. Arrr!
A group of Somali pirates recently seized an Iranian ship, the MV Iran Deyanat. Well, the pirates decided to inspect their catch and soon began to get sick. Some suffered mysterious skin burns while other had their hair begin to fall out. It sounds like radiation poisoning to me. I have a bad feeling that these guys stumbled upon some dirty bomb components (radioactive waste) meant for the Netherlands. The final destination of the ship was scheduled to be Rotterdam. Right now the Netherlands is at the top of the Jihad hit list because of their screening of the film Fitna, critical of Islam. It just keeps getting better and better.

MiniMotel, Cool Idea
A company has introduced an indoor tent for stranded passengers to use for a little comfort and privacy while waiting for late or canceled flights. Called the MiniMotel, it is a great idea, but I bet that airport officials would throw you in the brig if you tired to actually use one of these.

The Man Who Saved the World
Read this article about Stanislav Petrov, the Russian general who saved the world in 1983. It gave me chills. This would make a perfect movie.
I thank him for my life.
I thank him for my wife.
And I thank him for my son.
IMHO he should get the Nobel Peace Prize.
A New Kind of Hummer
Hummer came up with a very cool new concept vehicle called the HX. It's roof is reconfigurable (convertible 3 ways) and looks a lot more sporty than the other models. I wouldn't mind taking a spin in one.
Yum, Lactalicious
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is pressuring the ice cream maker Ben and Jerry's to start using human milk in their desserts in place of cow's milk. This is supposed to cut down on the mistreatment of cows in the dairy industry. Okay, they are now officially 100% nuttier than squirrel poop.
Time For Cuteness
This video is adorable. I love being a dad. I wish I had more kids, but for now I'll just have to have fun with my little guy and watch videos like this one.

Finally, a Logical Strategy For The Bailout
The Freakanomics blog posted a fantastically lucid argument for a decentralized strategy on how to use the Billions of dollars in federal bailout funds. The problem comes from greed and the solution is greed. Read the article to get a better idea on how it would work.
Mag-Lev Toy Train
When will these come on the market instead of being an experiment? I especially like the one at the end that runs along the side of the model building.
My Farts Are Bad, But...
Is farting against the law? If you do it in someone's direction is West Virginia it is. A drunk driver was charged with battery for farting near a police officer who was booking him.
How Diverse
Cyclists Suck
I despise those pretentious bike riders who think that because they are employing eco-friendly pedal power they deserve some sort of special road privileges. Those same tools who shout at you for not watching out for them and lecture you on the 'rules of the road' are the same ones who blow through stop signs and red lights because they don't see anyone coming. It looks like someone was out for revenge.
It's a Guy Thing
Iron Man Hardware Failure
It is a good thing that Tony Stark didn't have to use an Xbox 360 to rebuild his heart.
Six Flags Over A Shallow Grave
A decomposed corpse was found on the grounds of Six Flags, Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. I wonder if they are going to call in the Scooby gang to solve this one...or do they only do that is the corpse rises from the dead and haunts the place.

I found the following comment on a blog post concerning cannibalism among polar bears. It made me laugh.
I guess that we should take a page from nature's playbook and eat the vegans first, and then the vegetarians. I love being a carnivore.
This is just a sign of things to come. As we head into this vortex of global starvation and the downfall of humanity, we will do the same as the polar bears. It is the way of civilization. All things are horrible until you are put into the same extreme situation. Put yourself In a world with no food, no fuel and global chaos. Now ask yourself what you would do to survive or to ensure your children's survival. Let's all hope I am wrong.
I guess that we should take a page from nature's playbook and eat the vegans first, and then the vegetarians. I love being a carnivore.
Long Term Bandwagon
Check out this video from 1958. The Global Climate Change bandwagon has been around for 50+ years. Hmm, I wonder if climate fluctuations are cyclical.
Great Loss To Music
Recently Travis Barker and DJ AM survived a plane crash that killed several others. An article was posted on Yahoo.com titled Music's Most Fateful Flights. Okay, any crash can be a tragedy, but was this one a blow to the history of music? Sure, Travis Barker can play the drums very well, but he is better known for being nude a lot. Also, when did DJs become musicians? Ohhh, I can turn on a turntable and spin records...that makes me an artist? The only reason this irritated me was the fact that these guys were mentioned in the same breath as the following musicians who perished in air crashes:
Jim Croce
John Denver
Ricky Nelson
Randy Rhoads
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Buddy Holly
Ritchie Valens
Ronnie Van Zant
Steve Gaines
Patsy Cline
Get real! Barker and DJ AM survived. How does this relate to these music legends?
Again With The "Who Cares"
I guess Lindsay Lohan saying she is dating a female means what? Kids today are so messed up I can't keep up with the ever changing social conventions. I mean, does she "like" like her, or what?
Is Anyone Surprised?
If there was ever a moment for an uninterested, "duh!", it occurred when Clay Aiken came out of the closet. He was just so good at posing as hetero, I never guessed...yea, right.

Wall-E Shake
Baskin Robbins has a new shake on the market. This sucker has 2,300 calories. I think this is the same shake the people were drinking in the movie Wall-E.

Dolphin Bubble Rings
The video below shows dolphins creating and playing with bubble rings. Those are amazing creatures. I wish we could communicate better with them. If you want to read some very cool sci-fi about dolphins, check out David Brin's Uplift series. I highly recommend them.
Hurricane Ike, the Aftermath
Have you ever had one of those moments where you just can't believe what you are seeing? Well, I had one the day Ike hit us. It was just after sunrise and the wind was still blowing but the rain had let up. I cautiously crept out of my house to survey the damage to my house and was surprised to see an SUV driven by an adult packed with their kids. They were driving around gawking at the damage like it was some sort of show. It reminded me of when my folks would take us out to look at Christmas lights. I couldn't believe that the idiots were already out, and risking the lives of their spawn as well. The comic below illustrates the same kind of idiocy.

Still Here. F*#@ You, Ike!
We survived the hurricane with a bit of damage to the roof. Still no power, but I hope that comes back on soon.

Star Trek Movie Quiz
Try out this Star Trek movie quiz. It is tougher than I thought. Even being a big ST fan I missed 3 (80% is still a B right?). Let me know how you do.

Marvel Noir
Marvel is reimagining three of their popular titles (Spider-Man, Daredevil, X-Men) in a 1930's setting. Look for three limited series next year. It looks very cool.
Interview With The Dragon
As part of the release of D&D 4th edition, Wizards of the Coast has posted an interview with one of their stars, the Red Dragon.
Get More Cowbell Here
Anyone remember the old SNL skit with Christopher Walken as a record producer for BOC asking for 'more cowbell' while recording Don't Fear the Reaper? Well, you can now add more cowbell to any MP3 song. Rock On!

Try out this fun, flash-based spider simulator. I know that at least one of my readers will get the heebie jeebies from it. You can change the look of the spider, feed it, even take control of it.
