I'm sure that most of you are familiar with the famous painting of General Washington crossing the ice-choked Delaware river to surprise the British troops in Trenton. Well, I have an ancestor that was involved in this famous battle...
My progenitor, Georg Heinemann, was asleep on the other side of the river, soon to be made a POW. He was a proud Hessian soldier fighting for the British. After capture he agreed to change sides for 50 acres of land. After the war he married and became an American.
