Naming Your Heavy Metal Band

Finally, the rules for naming your new heavy metal band have been codified.

Epic Embarrassment

Graduation parties are all about humiliation, right?

Clever Tattoo

This tattoo only shows up in black light. That is an AWESOME idea!

Dangers of Date Night

Sometimes I wonder why our wives even bother trying to take us out in public.

Star Trek Plot Flowchart

This flowchart on how to create your own Star Trek adventure is as simple as the instruction manual for the zero-G toilet on the International Space Station. Click on the chart for more detail.

A Useful Website, Finally

The internet has finally spawned a truly useful and practical website. PMSBuddy.com tracks the cycles of the most important women in your life. Hence their tagline, 'Saving Relationships One Month at a Time'.

Doggie Blues

I gotta get me one of these hounds.

Self Repairing Robot

This is the beginning of the end, folks. Scientists are working on self repairing robots. In fact, the University of Pennsylvania have created one already. It is only a matter of time before we all perish in the Cyberpocolypse.

Nostalgic Alarm Clock Sound

Schedule this to play at a certain to wake you up. That will get you up in the morning...with the bonus of nostalgic memories of rainy Saturdays spent watching old Tarzan movies.

Lord of the Rings Cake

Wow! This is the most awesome (well, only) Minas Tirith cake I have ever seen.

Saga of the Terror Bird

Terror Birds were fascinating creatures, but lost the evolutionary lottery.

Pictures of Home

Check out these fantastic pictures taken of Earth from orbit. They are amazing.

My Wife Loves Me, Geek or Not

Every once in a while my wife does something that shows me she is actually listening to me as I froth at the mouth about one geek subject or another. Usually it has to do with one of a few subjects; Star Wars, Star Trek, D&D, video games or some other geeky subject. She sits politely and nods her head as I go on and on. Well, the other day she found a Gamorrean Guard bobble head on sale at the store and bought it for me. I was so tickled that she had gone out of her way to quench my thirst for all things Star Wars. She looked at me and said, "did I get it right? Don't you like this guy? It's and orc, right?" Although she was a smidge off on the details she got everything else right. She knew that the Gamorrean Guard was one of my favorite Star Wars characters and she knew what an orc was. What a woman! I am one of the luckiest geeks I know. Here's the you sweetheart!

Sigler Stank Tour II

Me and the boys headed over to Murder By The Book, Houston's greatest bookstore, to see Scott Sigler on his Contagious book tour. We felt we owed it to Sigler to raid Hooters before we hit the tourstop.(The Usual Suspects Above...Patrick, Chris, Travis and Joe)

After a full 2 hours of awesome Sigleresque goodness (or it it badness?) I lamed out and ended up not finding my way to the bar afterward. What can I say, I'm getting old.

Insane With a Membrane

How in the hell do wingsuits work? It looks like falling with style to me.

Painful Translation

Here is a video of someone who has not actually seen the original Star Wars trilogy (except bits) explaining how they think it goes. Wow, as a Star Wars purist this is soooo painful

Kirby Alphabet

Check out this Jack Kirby inspired illustrated alphabet. This is the one I'll be using to teach my son his letters. Excelsior!

Scary Geek

I used to tell my wife that going to rpg/sci-fi conventions was good for my self-esteem because there in gave me an opportunity to realize that I am pretty high functioning for a geek. The picture below presents me with another opportunity without actually having to attend a convention.

Aw, Hell No

This looks cool, but I just don't have those kind of stones.

Princess Bride Ambigram

I may have to buy this DVD (I already own a version) just to reward the graphic artist who created the kick-ass ambigram (same writing upside down).

Science Comedy Rocks

Check out Brian Malow's science comedy. Finally some humor that appeals to a highier denominator.

Action Shot

This is one of the most amazing photographs I have ever seen. It shows an armed robber fleeing from police (he was eventfully shot to death). It looks like it if from a movie, down to the cigarette tightly clenched in his mouth. Click on the picture to embiggen it.

Cosmic Fart?

Why haven't the mainstream media outlets reported the uber-loud outer space transmission that was discovered? I guess they think we are too stupid to understand what this could mean.

P.E.T.A., Get A Grip

P.E.T.A. is launching a new campaign to protect fish from being eaten by renaming them 'sea kittens'. Stop laughing! This is no joke. Their logic is that people will be less willing to eat a creature with a cute name. Bah, what a load.

Uh, Okay...I Feel Dirty

How can this video make me feel repulsed and horned-up at the same time??

Robotic Evolution

I have no idea what this German commercial is for, but I'd buy it. What an awesome concept.

Star Wars Memories

This is by Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher) from Star Trek fame. Awesome!

Fractal Broccoli

This fractal based broccoli actually exists. It is called Romanesco Broccoli. Isn't nature cool?
